We aim to cultivate a thriving community where followers of Jesus can connect, collaborate, and grow all for the glory of God.

Japan's Need

Tokyo is one of the world’s most influential cities, yet less than 1% of its population follows Jesus. We believe God is calling His people to action—not through complicated programs or isolated efforts, but through a simple, biblical model of disciple-making that can spread organically through families, workplaces, and communities.

Our Story

Mission Tokyo was born from a vision to unite Christian missionaries, church leaders and everyday followers of Jesus across the Tokyo metropolitan area. Inspired by the early Church in the Book of Acts, and recognizing that we are stronger together than apart, we created this network to foster collaboration, share resources, and amplify our impact in reaching the people of Japan with the Gospel.

Today, we represent a diverse community of Jesus followers from various Christian backgrounds, all committed to the same calling: sharing the love and life of Jesus, and transforming lives in Japan through making disciples who multiply.

Our God-sized Vision

To see Japan completely saturated with the beauty, love and good news of Jesus Christ, so that by 2050 every Japanese man, woman, boy and girl will have multiple daily opportunities to hear and respond to Jesus’ calling to follow Him.

We envision 120 million Japanese transformed by Jesus—every city, town, and village saturated with multiplying disciples of Jesus. Through Church Planting Movements (CPM) fueled by proven Disciple-Making Movement (DMM) principles, we seek to catalyze exponential growth.

This is no solo effort.

We urgently seek a unified, shared vision and total commitment to the complete saturation of the nation of Japan with the beauty, love and good news of Jesus Christ. Let us rally around the Great Commission, unite in our common faith in Christ, set aside secondary differences, and lock arms in collaborative obedience—until all of Japan knows Jesus.

Will you join us?

"There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

Our Core Values

Biblical Obedience

We ground everything in Scripture and simple obedience to Jesus’ commands, including to make disciples. Our approach follows the pattern of the early Church—reproducible, Spirit-led and Jesus-centered.

Kingdom Simplicity

We reject complexity and maintain laser focus on what matters: Loving God, loving people, and making disciples of Jesus. Simple methods multiply faster than complicated programs.

Collaborative Spirit

We’re a network, not a hierarchy. Every church, missionary and believer brings unique gifts and callings. We collaborate without controlling, supporting one another while staying mission-focused.

Movement Multiplication

Our goal isn’t just addition—it’s multiplication. We train disciples who train disciples, plant churches that plant churches, and pray for a movement that spreads from Tokyo, across Japan and into the rest of Asia.

What We Believe

As a decentralized, collaborative network, our convictions on minor issues of faith may vary, though we can all agree on the foundational doctrines of faith in Jesus. Several of the early Church creeds summarize these beliefs.

While we are largely from Protestant Christian and Evangelical backgrounds, we do not identify  with any one Christian denomination, as we feel our common ground in Jesus is greater than any divisions from differences we may hold.

We have no connection with any Japanese or “Christian” cults, such as the Mormon Church or Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

We believe in one God the Father, the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son). With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic (universal), and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
